Frenemies

My custom portraits of Nemo & Buffy arrived yesterday! They are AMAZING. I am so happy with them I want to cry. I am going out to look for frames as soon as I have the chance! Everytime I look at them, they make me smile, which is the mark of awesome artwork.
Can’t remember if I told the story of these portraits or not, but here is the short version. When I was packing up the yarnery to move, I found some really cool shimmery watercolor paints that I bought a few years back. I hadn’t used them in ages, and I decided to sell them on Etsy. They were purchased by a girl in California who bought them for her daughters. I took a peek through their store. These 2 little girls (10 & 7) do paintings and drawings and sell their work on Etsy. They use some of the money to buy supplies, but the rest goes to St. Jude’s. How awesome is that??
I realized that I had lots of other crafty types of supplies I was going to get rid off, and my original plan was Goodwill. I thought these 2 charitable chicas might benefit more from my old stuff, so I emailed their mom and made the offer. I ended up sending them a HUGE box of paper, markers, stickers, and so much more I can’t even name it all. They were super happy, and offered to make custom portaits for me. So I sent them pictures of Nemo of Buffy, and asked them to create pictures of my kitties as best friends, since we were hoping all the extra space in our new house might make that actually happen. We’re still working on it, but things are far better than at the apartment.
So, here is Nemo & Buffy as best friends by 7 year old artist Nea:
I love the shimmery hearts (you have to click for the larger version to see the shimmer), and Nea totally got the size difference between these 2 perfect! The colors are also great – my favorites! This one is going in my office.
Here is 10 year old Onyx’s interpretation:
I love that the sun and moon are also cats here, and Nemo’s colors are perfect. I also like the way Buffy is laying – she really lays like that so it’s great. This one is going in the living room.
These two girls are so talented! Please take a look at their shop – their work is great. And you too can have your own custom portrait! Visit TresLocas!!
