Shameless Plug

Just FYI, I added a few things to my Fuzzy Paws Knits shop today. Nothing new at the moment, but please take a look if you have a minute. I do have some brand spanking new stuff coming relatively soon, so stay tuned. And remember, the link is always on the sidebar, too. Also, just in case you don’t know, Fuzzy Paws Knits is on Twitter – @fuzzypaws.

So after spending all weekend hawking my wares, I can say that I’m about $25 richer. I actually made about $75, but after I paid my show fees and then bought a bunch of stuff from the other folks I ended up with $25. I did manage to sell my crazy funky Fantastical Scarf, which I was really happy about. It is much higher priced than my other scarves because it is so much more difficult to make, so I didn’t think it would sell. The girl who bought it totally loved it, so I’m really happy. A pic of it is here if you’d like to see it. Other than that, it was pretty uneventful. I sold a couple of pairs of mittens, but not a whole lot else. Plus it was super long and I was away from home and I missed Mikey.

I haven’t seen the new Harry Potter yet, and I’m dying!! I’m hoping to see it this week but it doesn’t look promising that I can squeeze it in. My dad will be here visiting for Thanksgiving, and we are booked through Sunday. Maybe we can sneak away then and see it but I have a feeling we’ll be pretty beat.

I’m not really loving the Artemis Fowl book so far. I am going to give it a little more time, but it needs to get good pretty soon. As for TV, I’m way behind because of the craft show and I have no idea when I can catch up. I did get a couple of episodes of My So-Called Life in, and it’s decent, but not as good as I’ve heard. But maybe it’ll get better. We shall see.

So that’s it. I’m super glad to be home, and I’m tired, but it’s a short week so I can handle it. Also, my BFF Becky is in town for the holiday and she should be here any minute!! I can’t wait to see her!

Christmas Through Lowell

I’m heading out this afternoon for the big show in Lowell. Check out the details here if you’re interested. It doesn’t start until tomorrow but I have much set up stuff to do this evening. I’ll be at stop #9 (typing that #9 made me thirsty :)) on the map, so if you’re in the area this weekend, please pop in and say hello! We will be open Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

I finally started a new book – I’m reading the first book in the Artemis Fowl series. I’m only a few chapters in, but so far I like it. I am also pretty sure that my fancy pants Sony e-reader is on it’s way out. Lately it will just randomly shut itself down and then re-boot, which is annoying in itself, but the worst thing is that it doesn’t remember where I left off after it restarts. Then I have to go flipping around until I find the right page! I am thinking I’ll need a new reader soon – any suggestions? Best Buy will be selling the Nook pretty cheap in the Black Friday sales, but I don’t really know a ton about it. And what about the Kindle?? If you have either one (or something else), let me know what you think.

Also, I recently joined Foursquare – if you are using it and you aren’t already my friend, hit me up so we can connect!!

Snow Hood

Here’s yet another new item! This is hand crocheted in a navy blue wool blend yarn. It ties under the chin with a grosgrain ribbon. Perfect for snowy blustery days because it’s very thick and warm, and will cover your ears. As you can see, Wanda loves it, but I think it’s actually a teensy bit big for her. She has (well IS, I guess) a small head.

This tree removal business has just been awful. I don’t even have the energy to go into the whole thing again right now, but we are still dealing with it. We actually have another tree service coming over this evening to see if they can take care of the mess the first dudes left behind. Being a homeowner really sucks sometimes. Boo.

Bursting Bubbles

I finished these mittens last night. No clever name yet (but I’m leaning towards Magnolia), but I love this color combination. And as you know, I have a serious aversion to anything that is matchy matchy and/or orderly in any way, so these are randomly striped in a pleasing and delightful sort of way. I’m very happy with them. They are nice & warm too, and since it’s freezing today I’d sort of like to leave them on! For sale at the big show in a few weeks, natch. However, if you think you might die without them on your paws, hit me up and I’ll hook you up with a pre-sale. 🙂

The beer fest post is totally coming, swear. I have been swamped lately, but I’ll get around to it soon. I’ve been so busy, in fact, that I had a dream last night that I made a cup of hot tea, and was sitting down at my art table to paint or draw or something. I was so excited about it that I woke up really happy until I realized that I haven’t had time to paint or draw with pastels or any cool art stuff in a long time and I am pretty sure it won’t happen in the near future either what with sweatshopping for the show and all. So then after I woke up happy I was sad. It felt like when you wake up during the week and just for a minute you think it’s Saturday and it’s the greatest feeling ever. And then the bubble bursts and reality sets in. It was just like that. 🙁

Oh Lolly Lolly Lolly

Ok, I made the first lollipop ornament. What do you think? I’m happy with it, but I think it needs to be a little more colorful. I’ll see if I can work on that. I’m thinking $3 for these should cover my costs and also line my pockets just a little bit. So I will be making several more of these in the next week or so. I thought of a different (hopefully easier and quicker) way to make the swirly part, so I’m going to try it and see what’s up. I’m totally taking suggestions, so let me know if you have any.

I also finished this hat recently (modelled by Wanda), I haven’t thought of a clever name for it yet. I like it though. It’s simple, but cute. Also for sale at the show next month, of course.

I want to mention also that I finished reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Excellent book, great story, great writing. For non-fiction, I was totally engrossed. If you get the chance, give it a read. I think you will dig it, too. I give it an A.

Trees of Green

This is just a quickie post to show off this ornament I just finished. I am in stressed out sweatshop mode to get ready for the big show in like 3 weeks. This is a totally crapalicious pic, just a quickie I took with my phone. Anyway, I think this turned out OK. I’m going to make a few more of these and hopefully sell them for a couple of bucks each. I also had a pretty good idea for some cute lollipop ornaments, I am headed to HoLo this evening to get some supplies.

That’s it for now. But don’t worry, I promise I’ll post my recap of the Michigan Fall Beer Festival this past weekend in Detroit. It was all kinds of fun.

Wow, it seems like there really isn’t too much going on latelt that I want to post about. Mostly because I have been completely wrapped up in the Southern Vampire series of books. These are the Sookie Stackhouse books that the show True Blood is based on. I’ve had them for a while but wasn’t too excited about getting into them since I had seen the pilot for True Blood and was not at all impressed. However, the books were good. I finished all 9 books in about a week and a half. I finally finished the last book last night, and also found out that the 10th comes out on May 4th, so I am eagerly awaiting it’s arrival. Also, I really want to watch the show now, so I’m looking for someone who has True Blood season 1 on DVD or BD that I can borrow. If you have it, please let me know! In the meantime, I am taking book suggestions – let me know about any good books you’ve read recently. I think I’m going to hit up the Stuart Woods series about Stone Barrington in the meantime.

I finished this scarf recently, and it is for sale at Fuzzy Paws Knits. It took me forever to finish this thing because I used the tiniest little bits of yarn to create my own yarn for this. It took along time to collect all the yarn bits and then tie them together and then knit them., Whew. I think the result is worth the effort though. I call it “Fluffy Fingers”.

And just for giggles, here’s Dawn & I boozing it up at Gallagher’s last week. We are making a dent in the beer list. Distinguished status, here we come!
